Offers of full-time football, both in England and North of the border, when compared to the exciting opportunities, bright future and ethos of the club, the environment at Gainsborough Trinity was perfect for Liam, at this stage in his career. "I'm delighted to sign for Gainsborough Trinity. I know Damo (Damon Parkinson) and Bish (Neal Bishop) really well, and I am excited to get started. They made me feel really important, that I was one of their main targets, so now I can't wait to get back in front of the fans again, as I really enjoyed it here last season."

In ten starts during his loan with the Holy Blues, Waldock tasted defeat only once. Five wins and four draws coincided with the Blues' best period of the season, including victories away at Lancaster City and at home to Coalville in the FA Trophy. And draws against eventual Champion's Buxton at the Northolme and away at last season's surprise package - Stafford Rangers.

The now 21-year-old looks ahead to the new season with a clear purpose - and under no illusions as to what his role will be in the side - as he continued: "I will be looking to add goals and become even more of a box to box midfielder this season. I am very demanding of my team mates, I like to get the ball down and play and help the team to play. I want to help the team be very front foot forward - and really get the fans excited."

Upon his return to Hillsborough, The Sheffield based dynamo made a full appearance in the 4-0 Papa John's Trophy victory over Harrogate Town, before being involved in Darren Moore's matchday squad half a dozen times before the end of the season.

Joint Boss, Neal Bishop couldn't hide his delight as he spoke about the duo's first capture:

"I am delighted to get Liam on board. As a first signing I think it makes a massive statement. The fact he has turned down clubs from much higher up the pyramid in England and Scotland is massive for us. He thrived in this environment and he is someone we feel can develop further. He will be a big asset for us going forwards."

Welcome back to the Holy Blues, Liam. I'm sure you and your family will be warmly accepted back amongst the Gainsborough Trinity family. We are looking forward to seeing your all action style in the middle of the park.
