They sit five points off Stockton with a game in hand. Not to mention a game against the Anchors still to play, Trinity are sitting further back in the table. In 13th spot, but with three games in hand on Ilkeston (The Robins) and the game between the sides, the ten point gap may not be as big a chasm as you may first have thought when first examining the league table!
Ilkeston lost former Gainsborough forward Tom Cursons to Trinity's FA Cup conquerers, Harrogate Town in recent weeks. The size of the miss, not quite known yet, though the strikers' 21 goals before the end of January, is perhaps an indication. Away from home, the Robins average a point per game from their sixteen away games played so far. Winning four, drawing four and losing eight, having conceded 28 times in those sixteen games. At home, only Macclesfield have a better home record than Ilkeston, our visitors having collected more than two points a game at the Microlise Stadium.
Trinity’s home form has accumulated two more points from two fewer games. Russ Wilcox's side having played less home league games than anybody else in the division, at this stage in the season. The Blues' form being fairly consistent whether home or away. It is more a case of a lack of games played seeing the si
des' league position waiver.
