But now is the time to focus on plotting the ascent of the table. Beginning with the tricky trip to Merseyside and the tough task of Prescot Cables away. Now in their second season in the NPL Premier Division, Ste Daley's side did the double over the Holy Blues last season. A 2-0 defeat at Prescot coming just before our last sixteen tie against Woking and a 2-3 defeat at home, at the backend of the season.
It's not only Trinity who have struggled against Cable
s. They've lost five from seventeen in the league this campaign (eight draws) and had 16 wins, nine draws in the whole of last season, as they transitioned well to life at Step 3. Looking at both teams league record so far this campaign, it looks like another tight game of fine margins. Both Blues and Cables average less than a goal per game conceded. Prescot conceding 16 in 17 games (0.94 goals per game) Trinity 0.92. 1.08 goals a game for the Blue Army, as opposed to 0.88 per game, for Saturday's hosts.
In terms of Prescot's home league form this term, of the nine games played, they have won three, drawn three and lost three! Their biggest win a 3-0 win over Hednesford, back in August. Their biggest loss - 2-0 at the hands of free-scoring Hebburn, who have hit fifteen goals in their last three games! Six away games have handed Trinity twelve points. Victories over Ilkeston, Cleethorpes Stocksbridge and Workington have been tempered by defeats to the current top two. Warrington Rylands and Hednesford. Tight indeed.
The Away Travel is running a coach for this one, with a few seats still available. Reach out to Darren Gray on 07425 331204. Coach departs the Kal Group Stadium at 11am. £17 per person. Help continue making this a success, as your backing certainly gives the boys a boost.
