Going into this one, Russ Wilcox’s side have two games in hand on Bamber Bridge. Currently a place above, with a point more. Stockton Town currently occupy the final play-off berth, four points ahead, but having played a game more (there's more to that tale though, with the Anchors awaiting their punishment, for fielding an illegible player - second incident in six months).

Warrington Rylands are on 50 points, six ahead of Trinity, but having played three games more than the Holy Blues. The other side that may enter the equation are FC United, who are eight points ahead, with two more played - and following Tuesday's game at the Towbar Express Stadium (7.45pm) Trinity travel to take on the Rebels, at Broadhurst Park on Saturday!

It's fair to say, Wilcox's men have been clocking up the miles, with these two fixtures making it five games in six away from home.. in only eighteen days! While the Blues come into Tuesday night's game in hand, off the back of a stirring second half comeback, at home to Workington, Whitby weren't in action, the Turnbull Ground failing an early morning pitch inspection, ahead of their home game with Ashton United.

Whitby sit ten places and twelve points below Trinity in the NPL table, and are one of two sides (Cleethorpes the other) to have played fewer league games than the Blues. With only one win in the last seven, Whitby have slipped towards the relegation zone, though a creditable 0-0 draw with title contenders Hednesford, in their last game, may well feature in a future Question of Sport quiz question! By Monday tea time, both Managers who took their respective sides, were no longer in post. While Gavin Hurren was relieved of his duties with the Pitmen, news breaking at 4pm on Monday - Gary Liddle had already departed the Whitby Town hotseat, to become Hartlepool United Assistant Manager. The weird and wonderful workings of the footballing world!

Whitby have since appointed former boss, Lee Bullock, alongside Jason Kennedy, and the Seasiders versus the Holy Blues become their first game in charge. So far this campaign, Whitby have played thirteen home league games. Only losing four times on home turf, but drawing five of those games. 13 goals scored. 13 conceded, prove that Whitby won't be an easy side to beat.

The Holy Blues however, should take great heart from the fantastic away form that is tight in there with the best in the division. Seven wins in thirteen games on the road, Russ Wilcox's men will be looking to extend that to eight, on Tuesday night! Boasting the best goal difference away from home, having scored 22, while conceding only 15, only Hebburn - the league leader's- have accrued more points, but have played a further two games on the road!

Previous Meetings

Trinity have won nine of the last ten meetings between the sides, including the last four at the Turnbull Ground. Two goals in nine second half minutes gave Trinity.all three point last season. The season before, Toby the Dog was in attendance & Ashley Jackson headed home a Lewis Butroid corner to seal the points.

In the play-off season, under Bish, Jack Dyche grabbed a brace, Curtis Durose, Andrew Wright & Liam Waldock were all on the mark, before Iren Wilson wrapped up proceedings in a.6-0 demolition.

And the season prior to that, in Tom Shaw's final game, Jovon Makama (now of Norwich City) and Alex Wollerton, scored either side of Harry Green's second half equaliser, to send the Trinity faithful, back down the A17 happy.

Let's hope the Turnbull continues to be a happy hunting ground for GTFC, as we again make the Tuesday night trip, over hills and dales, to the east coast seaside town.
