Despite being second bottom, going into the game at the Kal Group Stadium, Prescot have been competitive for much of the season. Although they have only won seven games, they have drawn fifteen times. That’s a positive outcome in 58% of their games. Two wins since the turn of the year, has seen Cables slide down the table. Well documented financial issues have surrounded the Merseyside based club, formed eleven years after the Holy Blues
In the game with Prescot earlier in the season, Trinity dominated the opening half but only had a one goal advantage. Sisa Tuntulwana was on the mark for the Holy Blues, before Trinity were reduced to ten men, when Aaron Simpson was sent off for two quick yellows, Prescot turned the game on it’s head with the man advantage. Before the fog descended & Jonny Margetts popped up in second half stoppage time, to ghost in and earn Wilcox’s men a first point against the Liverpool-based side.
Last season, at the Kal Group Stadium, Cables secured the double over the Holy Blues, when they came back from one down, to secure a 3-2 win. Something Russ and the lads will be wanting to reverse this time around.
Harvey Sutcliffe is in line for a full home debut, he made his home bow as a late substitute in the dramatic win over Guiseley, before impressing on his full debut, away at Lancaster City, last weekend. He’ll be
competing with Aaron Simpson for the right full back position, as Trinity look to have a couple returning to fitness, with six points more up for grabs.
Six more points, from the two remaining games, would see Wilcox’s side pick up a point more than they achieved last season, with two fewer games – and three more than in Russ’ first season in charge. Coupled with the continued cup runs, and memorable moments – it shows a continued building and evolution of the Holy Blues, under the stewardship of the experienced former Scunthorpe United, Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End centre back. Let’s give the side the backing they deserve, in the final home curtain call of 2025/26. Blue Army!

Presentation Night
At 6pm in Blues Club, we are holding the 2025/26 Presentation Night. An opportunity to mix with the Players & Management, as the season draws to a close (hopefully there are still a few more memories to be made, yet). The evening will continue afterwards, with an appearance by Gary Barlow tribute act, Dan Hatfield. This event is entrance by ticket only, but is s free event, put on thanks to the generosity of the Board of Directors, for you, our supporters.
Tickets can be obtained by seeing Chairman Dave Horsley, under the scoreboard from 2:15, and throughout the game. And up until 5:30 (on the door). Due to space, if you are intending to attend, please make it known and get your complimentary tickets early!
Elsewhere
Two games remain, and still we are no closer to knowing the Champions, or any of the three sides to be relegated. Rylands, who aren’t in action, due to the Widnes resignation, can’t finish any higher than fourth, or any lower than the same standing. That means one play-off place is up for grabs, with Trinity, Stockton, Lancaster & Cleethorpes all vying for that final place in the end of season play-off lottery, but to face who? We won’t know that until the final day.
