This win sees Trinity face Tamworth on Saturday 9th of November in the next round. The team who knocked the Holy Blues out of the competition a year ago. FC United of Manchester, the fellow former National League North side have started the season positively, currently sitting in 5th position. Surprisingly it has been United’s away form which has helped them climb the table, having lost 4 out of their seven home games. The home side are however coming off a good 2-0 win against Radcliffe in the FA Trophy, which will see them face Basford United in the next round.

This week has also seen Gainsborough Trinity busy in the transfer market, making no less than five signings this week!

First to be announced was the loan signing of Billy Chadwick from Championship side Hull City. The energetic midfielder will be welcomed into the squad this weekend after a successful performance for Hull’s Under 23 side last weekend. Alongside Chadwick, we also saw the signing Of Mitchell Dunne and Michael Williams from BetVictor Northern South East Division side Sheffield FC. So far this season Dunne has scored eight goals in 14 games. Dunne adds to the plethora of attacking options at Woodhouse’s disposal. Defender Will Thornton and Goalkeepr Lloyd Allinson have also joined, on loan and on dual registration forms, respectively.

Understandably the boss is excited at the chance to get his teeth into Saturday’s fixture, revealing: "The lads backed up Tuesday’s solid victory with a good training session on Thursday. We are just going over a few things we can improve on to make us stronger. It’s been a very good week overall and the lads go into Saturday full of confidence. With us getting five new players over the line, the standard in training went up! I’m a big believer in competition. We have a very good detailed scouting report on FC United and understand what a tough test we have in front of us, but we are ready and well prepared."
