Meanwhile, Smythe, a summer addition, links up with Worksop Town. Left sided player, Smythe impressed the management in early in pre-season, but having sought assurances of regular football, opted to move on, joining the step four side, just down the A57. The twin departures free up budget as Woodhouse looks to mould a side ahead of the season's curtain raiser a week on Saturday, with the boss revealing:

"Connor Smythe has moved on to pursue first team football and Dec Bacon has gone to Mickleover on loan 'till January to help raise some money to reinvest into the team. We currently have twelve players with three of them out injured so we really are threadbare at the moment. Trying to strengthen that is proving really difficult and we are hoping a couple of loans will help us be able to get a squad together ready for the start of our season on September 19th."

"We have some good Under 21s in the football club that will no doubt be called upon this season and it's our job to help them and do the best we can in what is proving a really tough pre-season, as manager. But like I always say, we can only do our best. Respect everybody, fear nobody."
