Not content to play at Under 23 level, he explained his reasons for choosing the Northolme to play his football, "I’m delighted to get everything sorted and be a part of Gainsborough Trinity. I’ve been in training with the lads for a while now and I’ve loved every minute since coming in. The gaffers been great with me and I think we’ve got a really good squad for the upcoming season. It’s a great opportunity for me to step into men’s football. I can’t wait to get going now!"

A strong physical presence, Minkley reads the game well, is comfortable with the ball at his feet and possesses a good turn of foot. Of Callum's addition to the group of players he is assembling, Shaw struggled to contain his delight. After a prolonged chase, finally managing to tie down the signature of Minkley, he said:

"Callum has really impressed during pre-season, he has some excellent attributes and huge potential. He plays the game with a real calmness and composure and gives us a platform to execute our preferred style. He is a very athletic young player who still has some physical development to come, again this will help us set up out of possession in our desired way."

"He has chosen to join us ahead of exploring other opportunities as he is keen to play men’s football and kickstart his career. He has chosen us for football reasons and is a really good fit for Gainsborough Trinity."

Welcome to the club Callum, we look forward to seeing you pull on the Gainsborough shirt.
