New Year's Day Fixture: Postponed

On Thursday morning, we submitted a case for the postponement of our PitchingIn Northern Premier League clash with Matlock Town on New Year’s Day, due to a number of further cases of Covid within the first team squad, it really does seem like a case of the walking wounded at the moment! We regret that with our small squad and further cases of the playing and coaching staff having tested positive for the virus in the last 48 hours, we felt it only right that we contact the league as early as possible with this information and request the postponement as early as possible.

Angie Firth, General Manager of the League responded to our request late on Thursday via email, where she said, "I hope things improve with both Covid and the exceptional list of injuries." We were very much looking forward to the visit of Matlock and will announce a date for the rearranged fixture in due course. We are aware that this news will disappoint supporters of both sets of clubs, but we have a duty, as a club, to ensure the safety of our players and staff. Stay safe everyone and do what you can to stop the spread.

For now, though it is time to wish all of our supporters a Happy New Year. Let’s hope there is only one-way 2022 can go from here, and that, together, is upwards! Thank you all for your support during 2021, we all appreciate it!
